NAME: Joshua Rosfield
AGE: 28
CANON: Final Fantasy XVI
CANON POINT: Act 3, in the middle of Back to Their Origin
CRAU: N/A
OTHER: This application contains topics of slavery, suicide, and murder. XVI is very dark in general and has more CWs, but in this app, those are the ones that stand out most in terms of warnings.

SUITABILITY:
Joshua was forced to grow up fast, having skipped so many years of his life since he was unconscious. Being 28, he remains a virgin, and doesn't think much about romantic or sexual prospects, but he isn't someone who doesn't know what it means to be attracted to someone. He's been all work and no play, so the offered prompts, the setting of the game, and the already established characters within the game would let him experience things he never thought he could ever have before.

Not to mention, his thirst for knowledge would have him putting his nose in where it shouldn't. Or should. He might just do whatever it takes to learn the truths about Golden Peacock, to find a way to his home and to perhaps even get his wish to come true if it can even be granted. After surviving death, anything else wouldn't be too challenging for him to handle.

HISTORY:

Joshua Rosfield is born to royalty, being the second son of the Archduke of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. The heir to the throne and the one to sit in it once he comes of age, he gained such privilege upon being born as the Dominant (host) to one of the Seven Eikons or deities in the world of Valisthea, the Eikon of Fire - the Phoenix. Special as he may be, however, he was also cursed with a weak body, sickly for all of his life and was therefore always looked after by his mother, other attendants, or his brother and First Shield (knight), Clive.

One night while accompanying his father and the Rosarian army at Phoenix Gate as they pay tribute to the Phoenix before war, they are attacked by the army of Sanbreque (another realm/kingdom in Valisthea). Joshua, being 10 years of age at the time, was to be protected at all costs since he wasn't ready to fight for Rosaria yet. However, witnessing the gruesome deaths of just about everyone and seeing his father beheaded right before his very eyes, he transforms into the Phoenix and goes on a rampage due to his raging emotions. This very same night, a second Eikon of Fire appears and fights the Phoenix. This is the same night that the Phoenix's flames lost, and Joshua Rosfield was known to mankind to have been massacred in the Night of Flames.

He is found by a secret society created to serve the Dominant of the Phoenix called The Undying, and it's thanks to their care that he was able to wake up from his comatose state 5 years later, and also regain his ability to walk and to have enough strength to travel 3 years after that. Joshua then begins to travel the world in secret to investigate how there could have been a second Eikon of Fire when he was supposed to be the only one, and to learn the truth about Valisthea and the threats that are hovering over it.

At age 28, his path finally crosses with his brother's, the other Dominant to the Eikon of Fire, Ifrit. Together with Clive and his own faction, they work together to prevent what is killing their world and to destroy all the source of magic in Valisthea for good, and in turn, ending the line of Dominants.

ABILITIES:
Joshua is able to use his abilities by controlling the aether around him, the main source of life and energy in Valisthea. As briefly discussed here, tapping into sex and sexual energy would be the main source of his abilities in the setting of the game.
🔥 DOMINANT OF THE PHOENIX:
Eikons, in Valisthea (Final Fantasy XVI world), are god-like creatures who are regarded both as deities and tools for war. They aren't creatures that are just there like dogs and cats though, but live within individuals and transfer from one host to another after the host's death. These hosts are called Dominants, and their souls are merged with the Eikon whom they are host to.

Joshua is host to the Eikon/Warden of Fire, the Phoenix. The Phoenix is a firebird not only known for its flames of destruction, but also flames of regeneration or rebirth.

As the Dominant of the Phoenix, Joshua is able to assume the Eikon's form in two ways: Semi-prime and Prime. A Semi-primed Joshua is more or less a half-summon of the Phoenix, in which it's Joshua's body with some physical aspects of the Phoenix such as feathers and flames. A Primed Joshua has him transform into the Phoenix completely. Given his age and all that he's experienced, the Phoenix is now submissive to him and he is therefore able to control the Phoenix's body at will.

🔥 FLAMES OF DESTRUCTION:
Fire, Fira, Firaga, and Firaja are Final Fantasy offensive magic/magick spells that Joshua is able to cast. Fire is the weakest or most basic fire spell, while the rest level up in intensity, heat, power, etc.

With his fire magic, Joshua is able to make small to large balls of fire, use these fireballs to hover around to give off light, or to burn someone alive. Using the Phoenix's feathers which he's able to create at will, he can create cages made of fire and trap his targets, as well.

🔥 FLAMES OF REBIRTH:
Joshua is able to cast healing and support spells such as Cure, Cura, Curaga. It is said that the Phoenix is not able to bring someone dead back to life, but Joshua is able to bring someone from near death back to life, making them feel better and healing their wounds, cuts, and bruises.

He's also able to cast warding spells, shielding himself and others using fire.

🔥 SWORDSMANSHIP:
He isn't the best swordsman around, but he does know how to use a sword and fight with it. Engarde!

VICES:
GREW UP TOO FAST
Even though he was born to lead and born to fight, Joshua did "die" at a young age. He missed so many years of his life either sick, unconscious, or bedridden, that he hasn't had much experience beyond fighting, war, killing, and other harsh truths and evils of the world. He can be rather naive at times, unaware of how to act around a lady he deems attractive or worthy of respect, or even acts too formal at times. Beneath all the regalia due to him being a Dominant and a leader of a secret society and all, he's still got the spirit of someone young and unaware. He's just very good at faking it.

SUFFERS IN SILENCE / SELF-SACRIFICING
The pressure of being the Dominant of the Phoenix has haunted him ever since he was a child. He was his mother's favourite, but he felt like he wasn't worthy to be the Phoenix's Dominant because he isn't brave and skilled, unlike his brother Clive.

Despite his sickly nature, he's always used his magic to help others, whether its his fire spells or by curing them. This does mean that he expends more energy and becomes lightheaded and sick, or sometimes even coughs up blood, but if it means helping others, then he will do what he must.

Joshua's love for almost everyone around him also leads him to many dangerous situations. The most extreme instance would be trapping the essence of Ultima, yet another god-like being who was the cause of all the wrongs happening in Valisthea, within him so that Ultima wouldn't be able to control Clive. He used his magic to basically trap a god inside him and to lessen their power, because he could never allow any harm to come Clive's way, in turn making his body deteriorate even faster than it already is from his sickness.

STUBBORN
Joshua is, and has always been, stubborn. Once he wants something, he will do whatever it takes to get it.

When he was younger, he would often leave the castle grounds just to watch his brother train, even if his mother disapproved of such behaviour. He would really only listen to Clive, but since he was the Phoenix, he was almost always given what he wants. Whether it's something as small as not eating the carrots in his plate (he hates those) or staying up past his bedtime because he wants to spend more time with his brother.

Even as an adult, Joshua will do what he wants and will listen to mostly just himself. He knows that Priming will use up a lot of his energy and he'll end up endangering himself because of it, but he does so anyway. He also insists to keep travelling even when Ultima's essence has already taken a toll on his body, much to the chagrin of just about everyone in the Hideaway, including Clive.

There is some overlap between his stubbornness and how self-sacrificing he is, but it boils down to him being the more difficult of the two brothers to handle.

VIRTUES:
LOVING
Regarded as both royal and a deity, Joshua was taught not to mingle with the commonfolk and servants. In Valisthea, there are humans called "Bearers" who are able to use magic without crystals (aether in crystallised forms) and they're given very little regard. They're enslaved, traded, used as livestock, put in the frontlines so they die first before non-Bearers. Almost everybody in Valisthea look at Bearers in this light, including Joshua and Clive's mother. He does not, and treats Bearers with respect and care, just as they deserve.

While his mother was an elitist and considered herself and Joshua to be the strongest and most well-bred, Joshua still loved her and would even apologise on her behalf to people whom she's treated like animals. After Dion/Bahamut's rampage in Sanbreque, Clive, Jill, and Joshua were supposed to already escape but he asked their mother to come with them. It was a gesture of kindness, compassion, and love even though she was the one who orchestrated the massacre during Night of Flames to begin with. Despite all the suffering she's caused, Joshua still wanted to save her and to let her life, even saddened and hurt when Anabella instead killed herself right in front of him.

CHIVALROUS
Joshua, while not a knight, possesses the qualities expected of one. Ever since he accepted being the Dominant of the Phoenix, he's sworn to serve as the eventual ruler of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria and fulfill all his responsibilities related to it. Even amidst soldiers fighting for their lives during the Night of Flames, Joshua, scared as he was, held his own and fought those he had to fight and kill those he had to kill to defend his fellow Rosarians.

Not only does he treat most with respect, but he too conceited that thinks he's the best despite being the Phoenix. He will serve others, protect them from harm, and even bow to those who should be bowed to. His readiness to help the weak and those who need help is immense in that he will drop just about anything to be able to do so.

Joshua takes his role as the Phoenix very seriously and refuses to let anybody down.

CRAFTY
While normally, being crafty can be considered a negative thing, Joshua's is considered a "virtue" because he uses his craftiness for good.

Upon waking up and taking leadership of The Undying, he's had to live a very secretive life, away from people and without giving away his identity as Joshua Rosfield. As such, he's learned to hide who he truly is, whether it's adapting a different name, staying silent, and just being someone who lurks in the shadows rather than being at the forefront, bright and beautiful like the Phoenix's flames. It's what he's used to survive.

It is how Joshua uses his intelligence, by playing his cards right, that he's able to succeed. He doesn't tell everyone what he truly knows right away, and only when necessary. He won't lie about it either, but it's cases of "I knew, but you didn't ask so I didn't tell you", which both lends to him having a playful side and a side that will leave people hanging because they aren't smart enough to get everything out of him.

SUIT REQUESTS:
HEARTS
Joshua is Valisthea's sweetheart. While no one really calls him that, he was just born so special and was loved and adored by everybody. His older brother loves him so much that he would just about do anything for him. In a way, he's got everyone wrapped around his finger, much more so when he was younger.

He's very caring and affectionate, and while reserved on a normal day, may also come across too strong at times such as running to hug someone he barely knows due to his excitement, or getting down on one knee to kiss the back of the hand of a lady he just met. I think it would be fun to exaggerate his more amourous and charming side because he could be even more over the top with the suit's help.

DIAMONDS
My second choice is another red suit. Joshua's body was never truly his ever since he was born, given that he pretty much shares it with the Phoenix. He's also had a weak constitution ever since, so I think having a suit that controls the body would be interesting. I was thinking of playing around with the idea of him having sex to stave off the suit's effects and also so that he would feel physically better. While that can apply to just about any suit, I think Joshua truly not having ownership of his body would be interesting to explore and write about.

As mentioned in the Hearts explanation, he's a mostly reserved individual. Him finding himself in a world where he's made to have sex constantly is already interesting on its own, but when he gets feverish for touch and affection, when he gets aggressive and animalistic would push him to explore other sides of himself that he's never really had a chance to see before. It would get him to loosen up by a lot.

RANK REQUESTS: N/A
SAMPLES:
One: Joshua and Dion take care of a dragon egg. He considers himself lesser to a prince and tries to help him as best as he can, while also doing his best to refuse the help given to him. He isn't very successful.

Two: A GP TDM thread where Joshua's lighter and more mischievous side comes out.

Three: Joshua catches up with Jill one night in the Hideaway. He refuses to eat his carrots and considers them vile, while Jill saves him from the evil vegetable.
